For example, we reviewed the data analytics process for one company by which the Total Available Market ("TAM") was derived. This process used a combination of analyst data (Gartner, IDC, Forrester), internal corporate financials, and historical currency exchange rates for ~90 portfolios and ~450 product lines across 53 countries in 4 world geographies in order to report historical and predict future market caps for the affected products.

A project was undertaken to interview business leaders and product owners to understand their current data needs, streamline the data gathering and reporting output process. As a result, vendor costs were cut by 75% and the process streamlined to provide delivery of data and reports quarterly instead of yearly, dramatically increasing the nimbleness of the business to react to world-wide market forces.
